
Marcel serves as South Hills Golf & Country Club’s Club Manager. Born in the former East Germany, as a child Marcel began working with his restaurateur father. He then entered culinary school at the age of fifteen. In 1995 Marcel earned his Master Chef de Cuisine Degree and went on to complete his Business Degree in 1998.
In 1999, Marcel brought his culinary mastery to Wisconsin. After spending over a year serving as manager at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, Mr. Biró founded Biró Internationale.
Marcel managed his own restaurants,
Biró Restaurant and Wine Bar and Ó. He taught aspiring chefs through
Marcel Biró Culinary Schools for Home and Professional Chefs, authored two cookbooks and consulted leading hotels, restaurants and culinary schools. Marcel also produced and hosted a PBS television cooking series for which he won a coveted Emmy Award.
Marcel has been the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including First Place in a menu competition, as well as first place in a hotel management competition. His cookbook,
Biró: European-Inspired Cuisine, earned him a Benjamin Franklin Award in 2006. This same year, he was presented with a James Beard Foundation Certificate of Appreciation for his work at the James Beard House.
